Madhesh Province District Presidents Call for Statute Compliance

Meanwhile, district presidents from eight districts of Madhesh Province have urged party leaders, cadres and members not to engage in activities that go against the party statute. Issuing a joint statement on their respective district letterheads, they appealed to party members not to participate in the special general convention, stating that the authority to convene a general or special general convention lies solely with the Central Working Committee.

The statement emphasized that it is against the party statute for any office-bearer or member to organize programs or activities in the name of a general or special general convention. Party members at all levels—including district, House of Representatives constituency, Mahasamiti, general convention representatives, provincial and local committees, as well as sister and well-wisher organizations—were urged to adhere to party discipline, decisions and policies.

The district presidents also called on leaders, activists and supporters to unite in support of the party’s official candidates in view of the upcoming National Assembly elections scheduled for Magh 11 and the House of Representatives elections on Falgun 12.

The statement was signed by Mahottari district president Nageshwor Prasad Yadav, Saptari’s Ramdev Shah, Sarlahi’s Dr Saroj Kumar Yadav, Bara’s Rajesh Ray Yadav, Siraha’s Ram Chandra Yadav, Rautahat’s Sunil Kumar Yadav, Parsa’s Janardan Singh Chhetri and Dhanusha’s Yogendra Panjiyar.

Conflicting Positions Within the Party
However, supporters of the special general convention have accused the signatories of not adhering to the statute themselves, claiming that district-level office bearers, including vice-presidents, are being encouraged to support the general secretaries advocating for the special general convention.

They argue that adherence to the statute is a democratic practice and insist that holding a special general convention is the need of the hour.
